Hi there!
In this day and age, graphic novels have become a pivotal part of sharing contemporary topics to children and teens.
A popular author, Megan Wagner Lloyd shares real stories that happen every day in the lives of many young people and children. Squished is a very relatable novel for kids with siblings and may not always have privacy, or need to learn how to cope with change.
In this book Avery is a 12-year-old girl who just graduated middle school. She is a passionate artist who is very creative. But her problem is she has too many siblings. She has to share a room with two of her siblings, while her older teen brother gets his own room. This seems quite unfair to Avery, because now she has to share with a toddler. On top of that one of her friends seems to be changing and acting different.
In pursuit of finding a way to get her own room, she learns the importance of her siblings.
She also learns to cope with change because she and her family have to move across the country. She learns that change may not always be great in the moment but there is always a silver lining.
I would recommend this book to tweens and teens who may feel like they have a lot on their plate and learn how to cope and know they are not alone.
