Book Review: Friends Forever

Hi guys!

I'm back at it. I told you that this year I would be more consistent. This year I'm going to try and post three different posts per week: one book review, one story, and one how to, advice or motivational post. But anyway, let's get into this book review.

'Friends Forever' is written by Shannon Hale a renowned author famous for her 'Goose Girl' series and 'Real Friends' series. Friends Forever is the newest book in the 'Real Friends' series. The series is based on Hales experiences through her school life. Friends Forever is based on her eighth-grade years.

Shannon has started grade eight and things are looking up for her. She has a lot of good friends, does classes she actually likes, and no one bullies her.

But Shannon still doesn't feel "enough". She wants to keep her parents proud, be popular and pretty, and achieve many things. Her best friend Jane is very pretty and is always complimented. Shannon feels like she is 'just' Janes best friend.

Her friends in drama class all get into modeling and Shannon wants to but she just gets scammed by an agency. Every time she asks her friends to recommend her to their agencies, they always say that it's too expensive or that they aren't auditioning new people yet. But then their other friends get chosen into the same agencies. Shannon feels like her friends don't think she is worth it or pretty enough. Then comes photo day. Shannon had her hair done at the salon, which was very special at the time. But she didn't like her photo, so she retook it. Photo day is a very permanent thing in high school.

Shannon was shopping once and found a poster that said, "God made men first, as a rough copy and then he made woman." Chad, a guy in her drama class who often teased Shannon, called Shannon a man hater, but that's not what she was. She simply thought the poster was cool. In the previous year there was a competition which Shannon participated in. She was put in a group with Chad and another boy. They came first place but Chad, said that he wished he was in an all-boys team, because boys are better thinkers.

Shannon has this guy best friend (not boyfriend) who is very funny and caring, but he always talks about this girl, Kristee. Every time they pass notes in class, he asks about Kristee. Shannon gets annoyed until she is fed up. She ignores him.

Later on, Shannon's friend Olivia starts talking about how she got into a play, Shannon gets fed up. She makes a comment which offends her friend. Then Heather, another friend of Shannon defends Olivia. Then all the girls start saying things they hate about Shannon.

She talks to Jane about it, but Jane is not much help. She just says that she didn't really like those girls, and that Shannon didn't stick up for her when they said mean comment about her.

Slowly Shannon starts to get depressed. Her grades go lower, her parents get mad at her more and all her friends are gone. She starts to lose hope and faith of everything.

But then Shannon realizes that she is enough. She rebuilds her life and confidence. Her friends and her reconcile and everyone is happy

So, guys I hope I gave some highlights of the story and encouraged you to read it. I would recommend this book for 7th graders and upwards. This book can be inspiring especially because it is based of real-life events.

While you guys are here, I just wanted to share my Redbubble page. In one of my posts, I shared what Redbubble is and how to start. Redbubble is a platform where individual artists can make designs and sell them. The best thing about it is that you don't have to spend a single cent. All you have to do is sign up and put your bank account details in and then start designing.

Anyway, thank you all so much for tuning into my blog I hoped that you liked the review. Pls tell me in the comments or email me any book review ideas, story ideas, and life tips and hacks ideas.

Bye✌🏾💖
