The glass bottle

Emily woke up to the sound of seagulls screeching and the waves crashing against the shoreline. I wish this would never end. She thought as she savored the moment. She was on a vacation at her Aunt May's beach house. This was exciting for Emily because she got to spend time with her cousin Jane. Jane was an adventurous and cheeky girl with dyed pink hair and always had long nails. But Emily on the other hand was quiet and timid, with natural brunette hair, but she had long eye lashes. Emily and Jane were both thirteen years old.

Emily yawned and looked over at Jane. She was awake as well. "Emily?" Jane asked with a cheeky look all over her face. Emily glanced at Jane. "Yeah?" She said curiously "What is it?"

Jane stood up. "Come, follow me!" She said as she slipped on her thongs. "Let's go outside." Emily looked out through the window. It was still early in the morning. A doubtful look filled Emily's face.

"Don't worry Em, I do it all the time." With that Emily put her things on and gingerly followed Jane.

When Jane opened the door, a calm breeze showered over the two girls. Emily breathed in the invigorating salty water from the beach The sun was only just starting to rise. It was such a beautiful sight.

Before Emily could grab her phone to take a picture of the sun setting and the horizon, Jane grabbed her hands. They both slipped off their thongs and ran along the beach. Emily could feel the cool water over her ankles.

After the girls had played in the water they sat down in the sand and told each other about their adventures throughout the year. Then Emily caught a glimpse of something that shone in the water.

Jane had seen the 'shiny thing' as well. She was already walking towards it. Emily went after her.

~

Back at the house Emily and Jane had gotten into a bit of trouble. It turned out that Jane never spent too long out on the beach and that day they spent much longer. Aunt May had almost called the police. But she was glad that the girls were all safe.

After a long talk about safety and communication, the girls ran up to Janes bedroom. Jane placed a glass bottle on her bed. The two girls stared at it in awe.

"It's like in movies, y'know, when they find glass bottles with notes." Jane opened the bottle cap and took out the paper.

" 'The ocean, Mother Nature's canvas, is a jewel to the world. Find the treasure and you will see...' Ugh the other letters have faded." Jane read out the words on the paper. Both Emily and Jane had many questions. What was the treasure? Who sent this message? How will we find the treasure? Where will we find the treasure?

But that is another story. Stay tuned for more.
